Art And Action Photography by Charles Shealy

Atlantic Beach, Florida
Philosophy: Capturing a moment in time and creating a work of art that transcends the fleeting moment.

“Photography opens a door to fully experience the detail and the beauty of our world around us.” C. Shealy

Photography is a passion I experience daily. Each of my prints stirs an emotion within me. I hope that you will connect with my images, finding that they will stir emotions in you each time you view the piece.

Style/Technique: Charles Shealy has been capturing images and printing fine art photography for 40 years always growing and enhancing his style. Utilizing natural light to provide luminosity in the print, Charles’ work shows the creativity in the printing process to be as important as the composition of the image. His subject matter is made up of the details in the beauty of the world around us, natural and urban landscapes, architectural details, wildlife and action sports.

Utilizing the techniques learned through decades of working in the traditional “wet darkroom” and applying these techniques to the “digital darkroom” the finished prints exhibit exceptionally high tonal qualities and balanced contrast. The highest quality archival inks and papers are used to produce museum quality prints that are full of detail and will remain so for generations. Each image is individually printed in-studio or in a professional lab insuring that the final print is a unique work of art expressed as the artist intended.

“My objective is to create a fine art print that is pleasing to view, and upon closer inspection reveals the true relevancy in the work.” C. Shealy

Background: Initially influenced by photographers such as Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, his work has benefitted from the opportunity to study under and refine his techniques with contemporary California photographic artists such as John Sexton, Charles Cramer and Anne Larsen.

Charles’ work is primarily held in private collections across the nation. Showings have included the Houston Fine Art Museum, Houston, Texas and APG Gallery, Atlanta, Georgia.
